Player Race: No
Relation to UFP:
Unknown.  Friendly.

ACTDNoteworthy:
- Since they never leave their planet, it would hard for one to serve on board a starship.
- At the end of Nth Degree the Enterprise spent 10 days exchanging cultural information, so it is assumed that they are friendly with the Federation.

Description
Humanoid civilization that resides on a planet near the center of the galaxy.  The Cytherians made outside contact, not by traveling through space, but by bringing space travelers to them.  The Cytherians sent out specially designed probes that would reprogram some types of computers with instructions to bring travelers to the Cytherians.  The Enterprise-D encountered one such probe in 2367.  The Cytherian probe had attempted to reprogram the computers on the Argus Array and then attempted to reprogram an Enterprise-D shuttlecraft onboard computer.  The probe was finally able to program Lieutenant Reginald Barclay's mind to bring the Enterprise-D to the Cytherians.  The Enterprise-D spent ten days in the company of the Cytherians, exchanging a great deal of cultural and scientific information (The Nth Degree -TNG).
