Description
Citizens of the planet Ardana who lived on the planet's surface, performing mining and other labor-intensive tasks that supported the privileged few who lived in the cloud city of Stratos.  The Troglytes who worked in the mines were forced to breathe toxic zenite gas, resulting in impairment of mental processes.  Troglyte political activists, known as Disrupters, forced the Stratos government in 2269 to recognize these hazardous working conditions and provide appropriate safety equipment.  The Troglytes expressed an intent to win political and economic equality, as well (The Cloud Miners -TOS).
